What changes from 1 November 2026
Armenia’s new Law on Foreigners changes how residence is applied for and kept.

Residence cards are issued in Armenia after a biometric appointment.
Higher state duties
AMD 150,000 for temporary and AMD 250,000 for permanent residence, plus a card charge.

How long is a temporary residence permit valid?
Temporary residence is granted for up to one year and can be renewed while your ground remains valid.
When can I apply for permanent residence?
Permanent residence (5 years) is available on grounds such as family ties, Armenian ethnicity, investment or — for entrepreneurs — after three years of temporary residence.
Do I have to be in Armenia to apply?
Applications are filed online, but you need to attend the biometric appointment in Armenia to receive your card.
Can my family get residence too?
Yes. Your spouse and children can usually apply on the basis of your status. We file the applications together.
How much are the state duties?

What happens if I leave Armenia for a long time?
